Director, Dale Jennings Associates
Hazel is a Chartered IT Professional working towards Chartered Director status in the first half of 2016. She is a member of the IITP, ISACA and the NZ Institute of Directors.
Hazel owns and operates a boutique IT advisory consultancy specialising in strengthening digital leadership and governance capabilities. Her passion is digital literacy at all levels, board, management and individual.
Hazel is a former director of the 2020 Trust, GenerosityNZ and Social Development Partners and has served on the IITP board for the last 5 years.
IT governance is a predominantly enterprise IT level activity and with substantial frameworks that support it.
Yet over 97% of businesses in New Zealand are small and medium sized enterprises - how do they fare from a technology standpoint?
Hazel Jennings will provide practical advice on technology governance in SME's, drawn from her own experience as an IT professional and a board member, and augmented with recently completed research into technology governance in SMEs and charities at the University of Waikato.
She will explain the difference between operational IT governance and business IT governance before sharing the characteristics of successful IT governance in SME.
Many of Jennings criteria are applicable to charities and she will show how elements of COBIT can be used as boundary objects to strengthen IT governance in non-technical leaders in smaller organisation without an IT department.
