Caitlin graduated from the University of Canterbury with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science in 2013 and is currently studying towards a PhD in the field of Computer Science, programming, and Computational Thinking education in primary schools.
She is an active leader in the CS and Software Engineering student community at UC, having been president of the Computer Chicks club, a committee member of CompSoc, the UC Computer Science Society, and student mentor.
Along with CS education, her fields of interest are diversity in the technology industry, mental health and student well being, and computing for social good.
Maintaining good mental health is as important for your well being as maintaining your physical health.
In the fast-paced and always connected IT and Technology industry, it’s difficult not to become overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out, or generally unmotivated and down.
Your brain is basically a computer, so as IT professionals shouldn’t we be great at taking care of it?
In this talk, Caitlin Duncan will show her computer science methods for debugging your brain, and learning to take care of your mental health when you’re busy.
When your brain is healthy, and bug free, you have the ability to work better, relax better, and succeed more.
