Michael will bring the other side (the governance side) on the issue of cybersecurity and address the questions of what must directors and managers do about cybersecurity, legally?; what should managers do?; what are directors required to do?; and what should managers do for directors?

Michael Wigley

Principal, Wigley + Company

Michael is the principal of Wigley + Company. He started the firm in 1993 after being a partner at Phillips Fox and has experience at other firms in NZ and the UK.

In 2012, Chambers & Partners, the directory of leading lawyers, described Michael as "an IT and telecoms expert with a particular specialism in policy and regulatory advice. Peers describe him as 'a genuine industry expert'."

The 2009 edition of Chambers noted he has been described as the "best TMT lobbyist in New Zealand".

Michael specialises in international and New Zealand IT, telecommunications, regulation/competition, public law/policy and procurement. His work extends well beyond pure legal issues to complex strategic policy and advice, often as part of coordinated activities.

Michael's clients include international and domestic Telcos, IT companies and large corporates. He has over 30 years' experience and is admitted as a solicitor both in NZ and in England.

Michael frequently presents at conferences in New Zealand and internationally.
