Procurement - Pain or Pleasure?

Tuesday 12:00pm - 12:30pm, IITP Conference (IITP Room 2)

IT procurement is notoriously inefficient, ineffective and wasteful.

The commonly-accepted model, which is enshrined in Cabinet minutes and relied upon by public and private organisations alike, is broken and needs to change.

The current model does not guarantee that the best provider and product win the contract - in fact it almost guarantees the opposite - but there are better models available.

Despite being an ISV (independent software vendor) often left bruised and battered by the vicissitudes of a poor model administered badly, Mike Dennehy will focus more on the benefits to the purchasers of goods and services of using a more effective procurement model.

Dennehy will consider and discuss a range of different procurement options, each applicable to different scenarios, and outline the benefits to the organisation - and, by extension, to the vendor community and often to the tax-payer.
