Ian England

Chief Executive, Acurity Health Group

Ian England is President of the New Zealand Private Surgical Hospitals Association and also Chief Executive of Acurity Health Group, the owners of Wakefield, Bowen and Royston Hospitals.

He is Chair of Grace Hospital in Tauranga and a trustee of the Cancer Society Wellington Division.

Ian has extensive experience in both the health industry and IT industry.

Before at Acurity he led a complex private not-for-profit hospital, in Queensland.

Ian has followed an unusual career path for a health manager, beginning his career as a computer programmer, before moving into jobs that increasingly focused on strategy, business development and then executive leadership and board appointments with a focus on healthcare and human services.

Ian’s career has given him the opportunity to work across New Zealand and Australia.

He holds a PhD in Health Management from QUT which researched the diffusion of IT innovations in health organisations, a first class honours degree in Computer Science from Massey, a post graduate diploma in Business Administration from Massey and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors programme.
